Pool Emporium, Inc. General Testing Instructions

If you ever perform a test which yields results that vary greatly from what you anticipated, perform the test again. It is possible to occasionally get an invalid test result. You could be doing more harm than good to make adjustments to your pool water that are based on an invalid test. If your second test yields similar results, you may want to bring in a sample for professional analysis.

THE PROPER WAY TO DRAW A WATER SAMPLE
(taken directly off the back of our sample bottles)

You must keep your sample in a neutral temperature environment until you can bring it in or drop it off.
Keep it in the house, or bring it in to work with you. You may even pull your sample the night before, if necessary.

Our sample bottles hold one quart of water. We need that much water to perform all the tests that we do, and so that we may repeat a test if necessary. The old adage is true: "better safe than sorry".

If you don't have one of our sample bottles, you can use a CLEAN jar or bottle. DO NOT USE A MAYONNAISE JAR OR SODA BOTTLE. Even though you may feel you've thoroughly washed it, the high acidic content of the mayonnaise and/or soda has a way of permeating the bottle, throwing the test off.
